Expert Dialogue for Sustainable Wood Procurement (in German)

26 April 2016, 9.00 - 16.30
Berlin, Germany

The Department for Urban Development and Environment of the Berlin Senate and the German Society for International Cooperation (GIZ) GmbH together with the European Sustainable Tropical Timber Coalition are going to lead the 2nd Expert Dialogue about "Public procurement of sustainable wood in the Land of Berlin" on 26 April 2016.

A recent study by the Berlin Senate Environmental Management has documented that high environmental benefits and cost savings can be achieved through sustainable procurement implementation. The purchase of certified wood products delivers these benefits, as well as forest management improvement and knowledge in developing and emerging countries.

This event aims to provide concrete assistance for the implementation of sustainable procurement of wood in accordance with the mandatory values of the Berlin Administrative Regulation "procurement and the environment". It will focus on measures to ensure the implementation of the procurement of sustainable wood, whilst strengthening awareness and building the necessary knowledge on early detection methods. The event will be held in German.
