ICLEI Europe seeks Sustainable Procurement Officer

An Officer position is available within the Sustainable Economy and Procurement team of the European Secretariat of ICLEI - Local Governments for Sustainability. ICLEI offers a rewarding work environment that will see the successful candidate positively influence the purchasing procedures of local governments across Europe. ICLEI has been working on the topic of sustainable procurement for over 19 years – supporting public authorities in implementation, spreading awareness of the concept, developing new approaches, and encouraging policy developments at the European and international level.

Tasks and responsibilities of the new position include overseeing the development and delivery of small or medium sized European projects on sustainable procurement; writing reports and guidance; supporting public authorities in developing and implementing sustainable procurement practices and strategies; and further developing ICLEI’s work on topics such as the circular economy and financing sustainable infrastructure.

To apply, candidates must have a degree in a relevant subject and a minimum of two years work experience. They must also understand sustainable procurement’s application in the public sector, have good research skills, and possess excellent verbal and written skills. The position is based in Freiburg (Germany) and the working language will be English. Applications will be accepted until 21 September 2015.
