Join PROTECT community for technical assistance and capacity building in innovation procurement

The PROTECT consortium is looking for public authorities willing to join the PROTECT community and interested in receiving technical assistance and awareness-raising and capacity building activities on the topics of Innovation Procurement, Earth Observation and Climate change adaptation and mitigation, among others. This assistance will be provided to you free-of-charge and most activities will be delivered through a dedicated community platform that will be operational as of January next year.

The EU-funded PROTECT project is aiming to support public authorities in their climate adaptation and mitigation actions through the procurement of innovative climate change services. PROTECT seeks to create, engage and assist a community of European public authorities to facilitate the definition of their needs and requirements for climate change services using Earth Observation data. The goal is to prepare this community to undertake a joint Pre-Commercial Procurement fully funded by the European Commission and expected to be launched in 2024 with a funding amount of up to 19 million Euro.

Authorities who join the PROTECT community can expect to receive the following:

  • Assistance in formulating and aggregating clear procurement needs for climate change services
  • Targeted trainings, continuous knowledge, and fresh information to guide them through the concepts of Innovation Procurement, Climate change adaptation and mitigation, and Earth Observation
  • On-demand technical assistance and consulting activities from a pool of thematic experts
  • Experience sharing and good practice transfer with procurers’ peers from all over the EU through a unique collaborative platform
  • Insights into the climate services market providers’ existing and future solutions and technologies
  • Strategic positioning for participating in the upcoming Pre-Commercial Procurement
