A Daring City - listen to Malmö’s ambitions, challenges and approach

The current Chair of the Procura+ European Sustainable Procurement Network featured on Daring Cities podcast. The episode explores how the Scandinavian city has plans to form Europe’s first cross-border carbon-neutral zone with its neighbor, Copenhagen. At the same time, Malmö finds itself grappling with how to be “climate neutral” in a connected world where you can only act on the emissions you can control.

Dive deeper into Malmo’s sustainable ambitions which date back decades. It’s been a member of ICLEI since 1996. In 2012, Malmö became a member of the Procura+ European Sustainable Procurement Network, and it now goes out of its way to source sustainable and ethically certified products. Making these choices was recently recognised with the EU Cities for Fair and Ethical Trade Award. In 2015, it was the first city in Sweden to announce that it would adopt the UN’s goals for sustainable development as local goals.
