The 1st Network Summit of the Global Lead City Network on Sustainable Procurement is taking place within the United Nations Conference of the Parties (COP) 21 in Paris (France), and hosted at the TAP Pavilion on 5 December. It will be used as an opportunity for high level city representatives to showcase the sustainable procurement activities and commitments which the participating cities have introduced, and the power these can have in combating climate change.

The Global Lead City Network on Sustainable Procurement is an initiative launched by Seoul Metropolitan Government in partnership with ICLEI, to promote sustainable public procurement (SPP) and related environmental, societal and financial benefits. The United Nations Environmental Programme (UNEP) and Korea Environmental Industry and Technology Institute (KEITI) have welcomed the initiative and are looking forward to its integration in the 10YFP on SPP Programme. The aim is to create a worldwide network of leading cities that meet, share and develop their capabilities to implement sustainable and innovation procurement to drive a transition to sustainable production and consumption.

A webinar addressing procurement-related funding instruments for innovation in intelligent transport systems (ITS) will take place on 14 December in the framework of the EU-funded iMobility Support project.

A European Commission representative will present funding opportunities for public procurers under Horizon 2020 and calls regarding pre-commercial procurement (PCP) and public procurement of innovation (PPI). The iMobility Support project will then be presented, including its relevance for those new to the concepts of PCP and PPI. Finally, the EU-funded P4ITS project will be presented, dealing specifically with procurement in the context of ITS.
