The session will be a range of panels to discuss clean construction focusing on zero emission building materials and zero emission non-road mobile machineries. The panels will be followed up with structured networking to facilitate a dialogue among the participants.

The expected growth of urban population will drastically exacerbate the need for buildings and infrastructure, already contributing close to 40% of global emissions. The built environment value chain has a vital role to play in responding to the climate urgency we are facing. We need to learn new ways of working and apply a variety of methods and innovation – and we need to do it together, at the right pace and scale.

The market dialogue will provide an opportunity for buyers and suppliers to understand and directly discuss their respective procurement plans for clean construction (materials and machineries) in the short- and long term, maintaining the scope presented in the master class on materials and machinery. This is the second of two Webinars that will be held in 2019, as part of the European Commission’s Helpdesk service on GPP. The webinar will focus on the updated voluntary EU green public procurement (GPP) criteria for Road Lighting and Traffic Signals (published December 2018), which have been designed to help public authorities reduce the key environmental impacts associated with the design, installation and operation of these systems.

The European Roundtable for Sustainable Consumption and Production (ERSCP) is one of Europe's most remarkable conferences in its field and has taken place periodically since 1994. ERSCPs favour discussions about the key issues in sustainable consumption and production; the exchange of thoughts, knowledge, experiences and SCP proposals; and the creation of a European (also worldwide) community of research and practice in sustainable consumption and production. During the public procurement process a contracting authority puts a lot of time and effort into identifying reliable business partners and ensuring a strong basis for the award decision. Yet, changing existing contracts may require a new contract award procedure. Hence, for an authority to ensure that contractual terms are realised in the execution phase, contract management is key.

StratKIT Baltic Sea Region Conference

Today, there are lots of pressures for more sustainable food systems as a result of dietary changes, growing
environmental awareness and an overall demand for healthier food. Public procurement and catering services
can serve as trailblazers to respond to these pressures. These issues are addressed in a Baltic Sea Region project
StratKIT (2019-2021) which is aiming to pool public actors’ co-learning and co-innovation resources for
intensified policy implementation in terms of circular economy and climate neutrality in Finland, Estonia,
Poland, Germany, Denmark and Russia. The project aims at developing the BSR dynamic sustainability model to
signify the efforts by public procurement and catering services towards increased sustainability. The project
discusses the relative merits and challenges of the practices, developments and initiatives in terms of the
sustainability conditions for nutrition on the one hand, and environment and economy of the food system, on
the other.

The two-day StratKIT Baltic Sea Region Stakeholder Round Table Event is a first international event in the
StratKIT project that aims to bring together public procurers, catering service providers, public authorities,
suppliers, customers and other stakeholders from different countries to co-learn about the current situation
