The Smart Cities Marketplace and Scalable Cities are initiatives of the European Commission and play an important role in speeding up the just and green transition of cities in Europe by improving citizens’ quality of life, increasing the competitiveness of European cities and industry as well as reaching European energy and climate targets, across all relevant urban sectors such as transport, mobility, logistics, built environment, energy infrastructures, urban data, digital assets, environment, citizen engagement and urban governance.

Smart Cities Marketplace 

The Smart Cities Marketplace aims to ENGAGE cities and towns of all sizes to deliver more sustainable urban environments and offers all the information needed to EXPLORE solutions, SHAPE sustainable urban projects, and successfully close a DEAL for financing them. It offers a complete catalogue of support such as calls for free technical assistance, 1-to-1-consultancy services for city-led consortia close to the financing stage, financing masterclasses and fine-tuned assistance/matchmaking for the financing of sustainable urban projects.

Scalable Cities 

Scalable Cities aims to create an innovative, sustainable and city-led community of smart and climate-neutral cities in Europe. Scalable Cities represent 124 unique cities involved in 20 Smart Cities and Communities (SCC) projects funded by the Horizon 2020 and HorizonEurope programmes that are working in consortia with academia, industry, associations and consultants. Together, they have implemented more than 550 demonstrations of technological and social innovations.

Solution Booklet E-Bus

This English, French and German version of the solution booklet presents electric buses’ replication potential and barriers from a technical, financial, social and governance perspective. Desk research, expert interviews with different stakeholders and webinars were conducted in order to gather experiences from various EU/national/regional/local projects in different European countries.
