The Sustainable and Innovation Procurement team (SIP) team at ICLEI Europe is collaborating with ICLEI Regional Offices to identify public buyers worldwide seeking innovative solutions. This initiative helps make tender opportunities more visible to EIC awardees, fostering connections between cutting-edge European innovators and global demand. The initiative is powered by the European Innovation Council (EIC): SPIN4EIC (Strategic Innovation Procurement) – part of the EIC Innovation procurement Programme. The EIC is backing Europe’s most innovative and disruptive deeptech startups and SMEs. This initiative is dedicated to enhancing EIC awardees’ ability to access procurement markets both in Europe and worldwide through training, matchmaking, and free hands-on assistance.

One of the tasks that ICLEI ES carries out as part of this project consists of supporting EIC Awardees to access global procurement opportunities. Collaboration with the global network allows to identify possible tender opportunities that require Innovative solutions worldwide. The aim of this initiative is to make them visible to EIC awardees who may be interested in accessing those markets and therefore to connect the supply and the demand of innovation. The SIP team has seen this as an opportunity to engage and collaborate with the ICLEI Regional Offices to:

• Detect public buyers who would be looking for highly innovative solutions and open to procure to Europe’s most innovative start-ups and SMEs.
• Identify relevant platforms where public buyers promote their tenders focused on innovation.
  The objective is to make this initiative known to the public buyers worldwide and to encourage the development of innovative solutions.
