The Centre for Sustainable Design® (CfSD) at the University for the Creative Arts (UCA) and partners have provided eco-innovation business support to over 590 SMEs in the South-East of England between 2009 and 2012. This paper shares the findings, lessons learnt and conclusions from two European Commission (EC) funded projects, EcoMind and SUSCIN (see Appendices A and B).

The document is aimed at any small, medium or large
company, wholesalers and retailers that supply public buyers with products of
wood (furniture, office paper, etc.) or that are suppliers of construction companies that work for the public sector. This guide defines the different ways in which Companies in the timber sector can demonstrate compliance with the requirements legal and sustainability issues that may be included in the bids published by the European public authorities.
How to combine fair trade and forest management certification
This guide aims to present existing ways to combine fair trade with sustainable forest management certification. It provides examples from successful community forests and Fair Trade Organizations which have applied fair trade and Forest Stewardship Council (FSC) certification at the forest and processing level or have fairly traded FSC certified community forest products.
The purpose of this new guide is to help buyers build their own way of identifying and capturing this strength of innovation. Built as a toolbox, it wants to be a reservoir of ideas, processes, and think tanks to enrich the practices of the purchasing departments.
