This fact sheet highlights the benefits of bio-based products, such as their potential to reduce the economy’s dependence on fossil fuels, create green jobs in the European Union, and drive European innovation. The link between bio-based products and sustainability is also outlined.
Good practice in socially responsible public procurement - approaches to verification from across Europe
This series of case studies describes how organisations from different countries have approached the verification of social criteria at various stages of the tender process. Each study looks into how the compliance of direct suppliers is monitored and how this applies to the rest of the supply chain. It is hoped that procurement professionals and other key stakeholders will be able to use the experiences of their counterparts to develop or improve verification systems in their own authorities.

In each chapter, the LANDMARK report on good practices presents
detailed verification and monitoring systems, after having briefly explained the overall approach of the municipality. Each case study has its conclusions and recommendations, although the objective is that each one draws their own conclusions and know which tools can adapt better to the organization for which you work.

Serving more organic and nutritionally-balanced food in Munich's schools
The City of Munich has a long tradition of working on socially responsible procurement. A tender for the City of Munich’s most recent school food catering framework contract, which uses the ‘cook and freeze’approach, was launched at the end of March 2017.
EUPOPP addressed sustainable consumption strategies and individual policy instruments. It looked at the existing knowledge deficit with regards to the impacts and effectiveness of sustainable consumption (SC) strategies and instruments. A focus is on policies in the need areas of housing and food.
