Good Practice in Socially Responsible Public Procurement
This series of case studies describes how organisations from different countries have approached the verification of social criteria at various stages of the tender process. Each study looks into how the compliance of direct suppliers is monitored and how this applies to the rest of the supply chain. It is hoped that procurement professionals and other key stakeholders will be able to use the experiences of their counterparts to develop or improve verification systems in their own authorities.

Ethical and Sustainable Procurement
This publication introduces procurement professionals to the key concepts behind ethical procurement and provides practical advice for getting started. It not only addresses procurement specifications, but recognises the importance of how a buyer conducts their relationship with suppliers, including contract negotiation.

The guide has a specific focus on procurement across borders, especially when buying from unfamiliar places with weak worker protections, or countries with potentially unfamiliar work cultures.

Healthier Procurement: Improvements to working conditions for surgical instrument manufacture in Pakistan
One category of goods with significant human rights risk is the production of surgical
instruments. Thousands of surgical instruments are used every day in operations
throughout Sweden and the UK, and a proportion of these instruments are produced
in the city of Sialkot, in north-eastern Pakistan. Although Pakistan has ratified all
eight International Labour Organisation Core Conventions, labour rights abuse in the
country is still widespread.
