Green Procurement and Green Products Generate Growth
The Environmental Protection Agency has assessed the economic and environmental effects of green public procurement as experienced by the market. The assessment is based on seven business cases. And the conclusion is clear: Green public procurement creates value for suppliers and the suppliers by enhancing marketing potential, innovation, sales, and export, and helps create new jobs. Moreover, green procurement can be a good economical choice for the procurer, as well as have a positive impact on the environment, health, and work environment.

The 2012 Annual Report on the State of Municipal Procurement in Canada
is the third annual report of the Municipal Collaboration on Sustainable
Procurement (MCSP). Drawing from lessons learnt, current practices, challenges
and opportunities faced by municipalities in 2012, this report presents key
themes and trends for this year and puts forth observations for the year ahead,
based on consultations with municipalities. This report is intended to be a
resource for municipalities and other agencies who are planning, developing
or optimizing sustainable procurement programs. It is also a summary for City
Council members and City Management Staff who want a snapshot of this
emerging strategic practice.

Measuring carbon dioxide emissions in Turin
This case study reports the example of Turin's procurement of school catering. To gain a better understand of what levels of greenhouse gas emissions were produced at different stags of the food procurement, a detailed study was commissioned from the University of Turin to look into the carbon footprint of the catering system in more depth.
