Central government bodies in the UK are obliged to purchase sustainable and legal timber, as laid out in this policy. Since April 2010, this has included specific social criteria. The Central Point of Expertise on Timber (CPET) provide free advice and tender templates.
Belgian federal action plan for sustainable procurement 2009 - 2011
The Belgian action plan outlines a series of goals and associated actions to be undertaken. Goals include the provision of technical and legal assistance to procurers in sustainability criteria, ensuring and exchange of information and providing political support.
Austrian Action Plan for Sustainable Public Procurement
The Austrian NAP for SPP, published in 2010, contains two sections. The first provides an overview of the goals and actions to be taken. The second presents implementation guidance and purchasing criteria.
In 2008 the Scottish Parliament launched its Responsible Procurement Strategy. It targets four specific areas: professional standards for purchasing staff, environmental impact, ethical and social issues, and SMEs and Scottish suppliers.
