Save the Date: Province of Zeeland to host 2025 Procura+ Seminar

The 2025 Procura+ Seminar will be held from 8-9 October in Middelburg (the Netherlands), hosted by Procura+ participant Province of Zeeland. The seminar will highlight how public procurement can help public authorities accelerate and scale up solutions that can contribute to social, sustainable, innovative and circular policies. Public procurement can for example shorten supply chains, especially in construction and civil engineering, and it can contribute to more effective laws and regulations. The seminar will offer insights into how this can be done and provide a great venue for discussion on the future of public procurement and its strategic connection to policy.

The insights gathered during the seminar will be applied in practice in Zeeland in the near future. The province is preparing some major projects such as the renovation of the Zeelandbrug, one of the longest bridges in the Netherlands, and the reconstruction of the Deltaweg, a strategic highway connecting key islands of the province. In addition, Zeeland is seeking to make its infrastructure climate proof and to replace its Fastferries. All of these are projects where strategic sustainable public procurement will play a major role.

Zeeland has experience with using public procurement in innovative ways. In 2021 it won the Procura+ Award in the category “Procurement Initiative of the Year” for using the Sustainable Development Goals (SDG’s) as compass for each procurement. This year at the Procura+ Seminar, there will be Procura+ Awards given in three different categories: Sustainable Procurement of the Year, Innovation Procurement of the Year, and Global Initiative of the Year. Public authorities can send in their submission via the form below by 31 March 2025.

The Procura+ Seminars are organised by ICLEI Europe, the manager of the Procura+ Network, and in collaboration with a host institution. The previous seminar was held in 2022 in Schaerbeek-Brussels. More information about past seminars can be found here. More information about the programme and how to register for the 2025 Procura+ Seminar will be published in the coming weeks and months.
