Dr. Maria Anastasiadis, associate professor (University of Graz) with expertise in the social economy, and Dr. Stefan Matthias Ullreich, procurement law expert, are two of the key experts who will participate in the latest WeBuySocialEU training. The training aims to give Austrian public buyers and social economy actors a better understanding on how socially responsible public procurement (SRPP) can be applied in practice.
Dr. Anastasiadis will highlight the role of the social economy in SRPP, what opportunities it brings for social economy entities (SEE) and the social challenges it can provide solutions to. Dr. Ullreich will provide tips and tricks for SRPP, based on recent jurisprudence. The training, happening within the context of the WeBuySocialEU project, will take place in Graz (Austria) on 5 December (08:30 -16:30 CET). Interested stakeholders can apply here.
In addition to these two interactive sessions, participants at the training will also get an overview of the state of SRPP in Austria, learn how public authorities and SEE’s can benefit by collaborating with each other on SRPP, and discuss best practice examples. In the process, they will learn how social and sustainable criteria can be applied in public procurement procedures, and how to develop tenders that are more accessible to SEE’s. The full agenda for the training can be found here.
The training takes place in the context of the European Commission's WeBuySocialEU project, which seeks to enhance social responsibility in public procurement by building capacity and awareness across the EU. The training workshop in Austria is organised by ICLEI Europe in cooperation with arbeit plus. The training will take place in German and is open exclusively to Austrian stakeholders.
