Initiated and co-ordinated by ICLEI, Procura+ is a network of European public authorities and regions that connect, exchange and act on sustainable and innovation procurement. The combined knowledge and experience of the Procura+ Network allows it to provide advice, support and publicity to any public authority that wants to implement sustainable and innovation procurement, and to champion sustainable public procurement at the European level.
Among the key activities of the Procura+ Network are the Procura+ Conferences, which offer an European-wide forum to promote and exchange dialogue on sustainable, green, circular, social and innovation public procurement. The 11th Procura+ Conference just ended following two inspiring days in Lisbon.
Mayor Jammeh was one of the opening speakers at the Conference noting that “ICLEI has been organising these Conferences for 25 years, showcasing great steps, successes and experiences. Now it is time to take another big step forward. Climate neutrality is not enough. Our sustainable solutions cannot deepen social inequities. We need a fair and inclusive transformation, that requires us to work with all perspectives. This is why in the city of Malmö all purchases must take social, environmental and economic responsibility into account. Public procurement can be a driving force to reshape the market and our societies.”
