Public Procurement of Zero-Emission Construction Sites - Lessons learned from the Big Buyers Initiative working group
Through the Big Buyers Initiative, a working group on Zero-Emission Construction Sites brings together the cities of Amsterdam, Brussels, Budapest, Copenhagen, Helsinki, Lisbon, Oslo, Trondheim and Vienna to promote zero-emission construction sites, focusing on alternatives to traditionally diesel-driven non-road mobile machinery (NRMM) used to carry out construction works (such as diggers, excavators, wheel loaders, etc.).
The group began collaborating in April 2019, and herein shares key takeaways from a year and a half of capacity building, market dialogues, and learning-by-doing through pilot procurements with fossil- and emission-free components.
