This report forms the basis of Work Package 2 “The Case for Innovative procurement.” It draws upon research carried out by the partners to identify the environmental impact of their existing vehicles and assess future procurement needs. It then turns to an overview of potential solutions to meet these needs. This report addresses the ‘why’ and ‘what’ of innovative procurement for fire and rescue service vehicles. The guidance framework prepared under Work Package 3 “Risk Management” addresses the ‘how’ and ‘who’, by looking at different approaches to supplier engagement, procurement and contract design and implementation.

The report, “The Business Case for Green Building: A Review of the Costs and Benefits for Developers, Investors and Occupants,” examines whether or not it’s possible to attach a financial value to the cost and benefits of green buildings. Today, green buildings can be delivered at a price comparable to conventional buildings and investments can be recouped through operational cost savings and, with the right design features, create a more productive workplace.

Electric vehicles (EVs) coupled with low-carbon electricity sources offer the potential for reducing greenhouse gas emissions and exposure to tailpipe emissions from personal transportation.
