Climate Market Accelerator - Pilot Study: Public Procurement and Innovation
By reviewing the existing research and policy literature and undertaking research in three European cities, this study explores the role that different forms of innovative public procurement play in encouraging innovation amongst supply chains and in stimulating demand-side activity and looks at current procurement practice across Europe.
This strategic report is an update to the 2012 Bioeconomy Strategy published by the EU Commission. It not only makes the case for a bio-based economy but also gives 14 concrete steps for implementation.
Building Circularity into our economies through sustainable procurement
This document aims to introduce the role that sustainable procurement can play to accelerate the transition to a circular economy and the shift towards more sustainable patterns of consumption and production, based on the work conducted by the United Nations Environment Programme in this field and on the experience documented by partners and governments. The document intends to inform dialogues on how best to bring more circularity in our economies at global level; it is addressed to both public procurers and policy makers, as well as corporate buyers and business leaders.
The report offers a vision for a healthy food system fit for the 21st century and beyond, underpinned by the circular economy principles of designing out waste and pollution, keeping products and materials in use, and regenerating natural systems.
Green procurement and green products generate growth
Seven business cases for green procurement from Denmark are presented through this publication. The examples demonstrate how green procurement contributes to the green transition of society. The focus is on the effects of green procurement from the perspective of suppliers in regards to job creation, innovation, export, and marketing opportunities.

sustainable procurement efforts on product and service categories that can yield significant
environmental, health and economic benefits.
• Recommended procurement guidance for several high-impact product and service
categories that were identified by USDN members using the Sustainable Procurement
Prioritization Tool (including bid specifications, vendor survey questions, and bid evaluation
procedures).
• Environmental benefit calculators as well as other tools and strategies for tracking and
reporting sustainable procurement actions and benefits such as energy and water conservation,
greenhouse gas reductions, waste prevention, and cost savings.
