EU GPP case study: Vienna's sustainable new hospital (Vienna, Austria)
The Vienna North Hospital is planned as a main hospital in north-east Vienna with 800 beds. The project was launched in Spring 2006 through a European call for tender for cooperation partners and plans. In 2008, an architectural competition was carried out, from which the Viennese architectural office Healthteam Albert Wimmer emerged as the winner. The preliminary draft phase of the planning has now been completed, with construction due to begin in 2012.

EU GPP case study: Sustainable food for thought (Malmö, Sweden)
To establish the feasibility of preparing and serving organic meals in Malmö’s schools, a pilot project was carried out from 2004-2007. The aim of the project was to serve 100% organic food in a school restaurant which was considered to be a good model for replication.

EU GPP case study: The purchase of electricity from renewable sources (Rivierenland, Netherlands)
In 2009 the ten municipalities of the Dutch region Rivierenland (215,000 inhabitants) needed to renew their contracts for the supply of electricity. The municipalities decided to join forces in an open tender procedure to achieve economy of scale. Most of the municipalities opted for buy “green” electricity, meaning based on renewable sources.

In 2005, the city of Esbjerg wanted to purchase cleaning products.
